Well, hello, hello!

You found my site, lucky you! Let me introduce myself if you don’t already know.
My name is Melissa. I am from the New England. I love fitness and I love the fitness lifestyle, so, I decided to create this website to share my knowledge and passion with others. Let me tell you a little bit more about myself.

I had always been an active child growing up. I was always participating in sports from as young as I can remember. I have been involved in equestrian sports since I was a wee little six year old but I had also dabbled in tee ball, soccer, swimming, snowboarding, hiking, camping, mountain biking, etc (to name a few).

It wasn’t until I was about 19 years old when I developed a true interest in health, fitness and weight training. My interest actually stemmed from my desire to get into better shape. I wanted to lose some weight, and for the life of me I just couldn’t figure out what the hell I was doing wrong! I didn’t have that far to go, really. I think at my heaviest I was around 130 lbs and about 19% body fat. To some women reading this, you might want to wring my neck for complaining about those numbers, but, like many women I know, I wanted to improve and I had my own personal goal that I wanted to achieve.

So, anyway, I set out on a quest to lose weight, get healthier, and create the body I always wanted. I knew NOTHING about how to do that. I read magazines. I pieced together the information I found in these magazines (which sent me in all different directions) to try to start reshaping my body. I didn’t know anything about weight training, so I started doing massive amounts of cardio in hopes of shrinking in size. Didn’t work. I paid close attention to the “weight loss” foods those magazines always raved about and gave my kitchen a healthy make over. Still, nothing happened, nothing significant anyway. I never gave up. I continued to go to the gym, I continued to increase my cardio, I continued to do my very best to eat well, but I was getting fed up with not seeing any significant changes in my body.

One day I had had enough and I decided to educate myself on fitness and exercise. I was determined to figure out why what I was doing wasn’t working. I started my fitness education by becoming certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and continued to try to soak up as much information as I could through science websites and public medical journals. Instead of watching TV, I spent my free time reading fitness blogs and learning from those who posted their knowledge online (based on degrees they had in subjects like Human Biology or Exercise Physiology). I was seeking out the best to learn from the best.

Turns out, I LOVED learning about exercise, I loved learning about what the body responds to in order to make a physical change. I developed a passion for learning how to lift weights, get stronger, learn new exercise and increase my athletic performance. I was hooked, and since then I have continued to grow this hobby. Up through now, I continue to keep up with finding the best research along with the newest science in the world of fitness.

Working out makes me feel great. The gym is my sanctuary, as corny as that sounds. When I am in the gym, or working out where ever I may be, with my headphones blaring, sweating like a pig, nothing else matters in the world. I allow myself to let go of what ever is weighing on my mind and just concentrate on finishing up that workout, with everything i’ve got. I love learning about the newest fitness research out there, it makes me feel powerful to fill my brain with knowledge that wasn’t there the day before. Lastly, I love helping other people. I love answering questions about health and fitness to people who are interested in changing their bodies and their lives for the better. I feel great when my advice is what helps people get to where they want to be.

This website is here for whoever loves fitness and whoever loves learning about health and fitness. Ask me questions, share your experiences, your knowledge and your opinions, I am open to hearing all of it. Enjoy my website!
